The Interception of Communications Bill 2017

The quiet tabling of the Interception of Communications Bill 2017 in the House of Assembly n February 8th has caused considerable controversy not not only for its contentious content but also for the manner in which it was introduced. The bill, which allows the surveillance of private citizens and entities' correspondence, emails, and phone calls for up to 3 months in matters of "national security" raised questions about privacy and citizen rights to freedom of expression and association.
